UPDATE: Cartoon Modern @ Amazon
Many people have been emailing me to ask what’s up with the 7-10 delay for CARTOON MODERN at Amazon. I’ve been curious too so I checked in with Chronicle to see when the book will be readily available on their site. My editor says that the delay has to do with how Amazon works and the way they process orders on certain books. There is good news though. My editor writes, “Right now much stock is on the way to Amazon. They should receive today or tomorrow at the Nevada warehouse and then the availability will be 24 hours.” Plenty of CARTOON MODERN for all…and that’s how it should be!
Thank goodness for that! Strange are the ways of Amazon…but the book’s just barely out of the gate now–one wants plenty of copies avaliable when the word gets around about it. This is going to be a very popular gift item, I’m certain.
Congratulations, Amid! You did an excellent job, and I know from reading the Brew it’s been a long, difficult process(as all such books are). I still don’t have a clue how you managed to organize all that material.

I ordered mine direct from Chronicle and even though it stated a 7-10 day shipping time it got to me in 2 days.
and they had a pretty good discount going too.

Hey Amid I just received the book today in the mail!! I picked it up from the post office this afternoon and am already more then impressed and overflowing with inspiration! I’ll be sure to write you another comment once I’ve had a full read through but did want to leave you a note saying kudos on a job more then well done and thanks you for something that will pay me back 1000 folds in inspiration.

Hopefully the shipment will result in a new screen on the CM/Amazon page pronto–the est. shipping time is now(8/30 8am PST)–1-2 months! I’m thinking that must be based on demand/orders vs. copies on hand? Chronicle, ship a large, large truckload over to Amazon, Inc.! Folks want this book!

Thanks for the update Will. I guess the book is slowly getting out there. I still haven’t seen it in any LA stores but I hear it’s around. Golden Apple has already sold out of its first two shipments of the book.

Yesterday my copy arrived, so Cartoon Modern is officially available in Europe.
But my, what a beautiful book! I just had a quick look at the pictures, but it’s clear this book is worth every penny spent for it.

I ordered the book on amazon on September 5th and the estimated shipping date is February ‘07! hopefully (and probably) it’ll end up being sooner than that though

Cody - That shipping date doesn’t sound right, so I’d consider checking with Amazon. Did you order another book in the same order that isn’t available yet? For example, if you ordered an unpublished book, and grouped the shipping together so that it’d be cheaper, they won’t send Cartoon Modern until that other book is published.

i just checked and yes that is what happened, i bought it with the new jim flora book because they gave a great discount when you buy both
