Since Amazon.com says that they won’t be shipping CARTOON MODERN for another 7-13 days, I thought it’s worth mentioning the annual summer sale at Chronicle’s own website. Not only do they have my book in stock, but through August 20, CARTOON MODERN can be bought at their site for $28 (30% off). Plus, if you order $35 or more, shipping is free. To round out the order, I’d recommend Chronicle’s recent reprints of the children’s books by superstar graphic designer Paul Rand and his wife Ann Rand: LITTLE ONE and SPARKLE AND SPIN.
Just to let you know, I work at a Barnes and Noble and had a preorder out for the book. It arrived today, so at least one person besides yourself has a copy of the books in their actual hands. On initial flip-through, it’s quite lovely, and definitely something I’ll use for inspiration for some time to come. There’s just some amazing art in there. Thanks for putting it all together!

Thanks for the update and the kind words about the book, T. I’m glad to hear that at least one person has gotten the book at the bookstore now. My editor says it’ll be hitting other B&Ns and Borders within the next couple weeks so that’s good news.

Shame on you Amazon. I’m from Brazil and Amazon is one of the few possible ways I have to purchase this book… I’ll just have to wait a little longer.

Hi Amid, thanks for the tip for animation lovers on a budget. The discount applies to Amazon.ca Cartoon Modern stock as well. The stock for the book also arrived at the Canadian distributor two days ago, so I have been keeping my eyes peeled for it at the local bookstore.

Thanks for the heads-up on those Paul/Ann Rand books, I didn’t even know they’d been republished. I’ll definitely be ordering them for the bookstore where I work.
Still no sign of Cartoonmodern here yet, but someone’s selling a ‘used copy’ on Amazon.co.uk!

That is very cool about those Rand books. I’d been eyeing them on some other site, but they were first printings and were going for a hefty sum. I’ll have to mention it on my Retro Kid group. Thanks for the heads up.
Some dude at work got a copy of your CM book. I was incredibly jealous, but did not show it. I also did not open it because I want to enjoy my own copy of the book. Can’t wait!
