Canadian illustrator Leif Peng recently discovered a 2-page COLLIER’S magazine spread from 1956 with some great stills from the educational film MAN OF ACTION (1955). I wrote a bit about the film back in November and the film can be seen online at Archive.org. The magazine article is below.

Hey, that’s a pretty cool find! Nice to find rare material like this, especially for a somewhat-rare cartoon.
BTW, MAN OF ACTION is pretty cool! Sure, it’s notches below the average UPA classic, but it’s not half-bad. The animation reminds me just a little of Gene Deitch’s early 60s work (and he worked at Halas & Batchelor for half of the Popeye cartoons he did, so I wouldn’t be surprised if H&B worked on this).

Cool! I remember seeing this a couple of years ago on the archive. I mostly enjoyed it for the backgrounds. I’m looking forward to the book.
