How cool is this! I’ve been running across some drawings on blogs lately where artists have mentioned being inspired by the work posted on Cartoon Modern. Below are three drawings that, according to the artists, have been inspired in some small way by the work posted here.

Hi, Why should it be a surprise that so many artists are inspired by your blog? The artwork you’re sharing with us is world-quality, and it can only get our pencils charged!
Thank you.

It’s great to see more artists interpretations of the lovely retro eye candy that Cartoon Modern provides! I look forward to seeing more posts like this in the future!

I love pictures like this, the black on red. Extremely classy.

I just want to thank you for all the info you’ve provided thus far and will provide when the book is out. The art you’ve posted here has definitely helped me in that through it, I was able to better cement backgrounds for my own comic work. There’s something so powerful about the stark work from that time period. You’ve really opened my eyes.

I know this comment is late, but I also want to say how much your blog has inspired me. You have one of the best blogs featuring UPA, retro design I’ve come across. I adore the abstract, graphic, iconic style of all the work you gravitate to. I’ve also created some recent background art inspired by some of your postings.

I’ve been waiting for cartoon modern for years!! We are SOOOOO lucky to have this great resource. And just in time for the “flash animation revolution” that is sweeping the net. I’ve already incorporated elements of this style into my work at subwaysurfer.com
