An Inspiring Inspiration Board

I was amused to see the above image on the blog of Canadian animation artist Jason Groh because it’s almost like a preview of my book CARTOON MODERN. The photo is of his inspiration board at his home studio, and it’s packed with designs by 1950s animation artists including Ed Benedict, T. Hee, Bobe Cannon, Maurice Noble, John Hubley, Tom Oreb, Cliff Roberts and Gene Deitch. Jason’s own drawings have a strong design sensibility so it’s hardly surprising that he was influenced by these artists.

Hey Amid,
Thankyou for your kind mention and Compliment!
I’m glad you liked my Inspiration Board!
I anxiously anticipate your book and look forward to a Day next spring when I can take all the Drawings and badly Xeroxed stills down and replace them with the Delicious pages in your book!
All the best to you!
Jason:)

Nice collection! I’ve had that same frame from “The Daffy Doc” up in my office for years. Where’s the color Clampett book, anyway? ; )

Jason - I can’t get wait to get a copy myself so I can tear out pages and stick ‘em on my own inspiration board, not to mention my car, my refrigerator, my toilet…

HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Hey Amid,
Let’s not forget the Bedroom!
Nothing says “Let’s get it on ” more than a few dozen old T.V spots glued to the Headboard!
I’ll probably just Xerox your Books Pages so I can Draw while I look at them on my Wall…..But you already knew that……
Jason
